On 7 May 2025, His Excellency Mr. Supark Prongthura, Ambassador of Thailand to Jordan, together with Mrs. Siriwan Prongthura, spouse of the Ambassador, as well as Mr. Jacque Rossel, Director of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RACA), jointly presided over the opening ceremony of the Thai Culinary Day at the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RACA), in which the Royal Thai Embassy in Amman collaborated with RACA.
His Excellency the Ambassador of Thailand addressed the roles of the Royal Thai Embassy in Amman in enhancing the knowledge and awareness about Thai foods, Thai ingredients, as well as Thai Halal products, available in Jordan to the students of RACA who will soon graduate and become leading chefs in Jordan and the Middle East. Ambassador Supark also touched upon the basic knowledge and techniques necessary in Thai food cooking which may be useful for future chefs in creating various menus in their future careers.
On the same occasion, Mrs. Siriwan further talked about the characteristics of Thai cuisines, which do not only reflect the richness in tastes, but also the culture and wisdoms that has been passed on through many generations in Thailand. She also encouraged participating students to create inspiring menus using Thai ingredients, thus elevating Thai cuisines and bringing Thai Kitchen to the world.
This event is the first of a two day’s project where participating students would learn about the general concepts of Thai cooking and various Thai ingredients. After that, the students learned to cook two Thai dishes: shrimp Tom Yum and chicken Green Curry from the chefs of the Thai Residence. Participants received preliminary comments about their cooking from the Ambassador and his spouse, as well as the chefs from the Thai residence.
