On 22 April 2026, Her Excellency Mrs. Jirapon Jirampaikool, Ambassador of Thailand to Jordan, held a courtesy meeting with
Mr. Olaf Becker, Director of UNRWA Affairs in Jordan. Her Excellency the Ambassador commends the work of UNRWA as an essential support and backbone for refugees in the Middle East region. She also reaffirmed Thailand’s role, with a longstanding humanitarian tradition, as a responsible member of the international community. Thailand has consistently provided financial and in-kind support to UNRWA since 1978, both in the form of the multi-year pledge for voluntary contributions and in response to UNRWA Flash Appeal since 2023.
Director Becker warmly welcomed and expressed UNRWA’s deep appreciation to role of the Royal Thai Government as a steadfast and reliable supporter to UNRWA.
On the same occasion, Director Becker led Her Excellency Ambassador of Thailand for a tour of the New Amman Camp, which is one of the oldest and second most populous Palestine refugee camps in Jordan.
