On 5 December 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy hosted a reception on the auspicious occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand and Thai Father’s Day at the Fairmont Amman Hotel, in which HRH Princess Basma bint Talal graciously attended the event as the Guest of Honour. The Government of Jordan also designated H.E. Dr. Muawieh Radaideh, Minister of Environment, as its representative for the event. Over 500 guests attended the reception including Ambassadors and foreign dignitaries, former Prime Minister and ministers, high ranking officials and representatives from the public, private and academic sectors, as well as Thai community in Jordan.
 
On this occasion, HRH Princess Basma gave the royal remarks congratulating HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and the people of Thailand on the auspicious occasions of the National Day of Thailand, as well as the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Thai Father’s Day. The Royal Remarks also covered HRH’s admiration on the remarkable economic and social progress that Thailand has made, Thailand’s active leading roles in ASEAN, the strong ties and friendship between Jordan and Thailand for more than 5 decades, the resumption of the Royal Jordanian Airlines’ direct flight between Amman and Bangkok, the singing of the Royal Anthem in Arabic by Thai Muslim students, as well as Thai cuisines and fruit carving demonstration. HRH also expressed high appreciation for the continuous support of the Royal Thai Embassy to the Mabarrat Um Al-Hussein (care institution for children living in hardship) through the Embassy’s participation in the Annual International Diplomatic Bazaar every year.
 
H.E. Mr. Supark Prongthura, Ambassador of Thailand to Jordan, delivered an opening statement to commemorate the legacy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great during his 70-year reign that greatly contributed to the development and well-being of the people of Thailand, which has also been recognized by the United Nations under various designations such as the World Soil Day, Alternative Development and Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainable Development Goals. The Ambassador’s statement also covered the strong ties between Thailand and Jordan at all levels and his confidence in a prosperous relations between the two Kingdoms as both sides look forward to celebrating the 60th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations establishment in 2026. The Ambassador also expressed his admiration for HRH Princess Basma’s dedication in improving the well-being of all Jordanians, especially the children in need.
 
The Royal Thai Embassy also set up several booths during the reception to showcase: (1) Photographs taken by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand during HRH’s visit to Jordan in 2006, (2) Royal Jordanian Airlines’ recently launched direct flight between Amman and Bangkok (3) Jordan-Thailand Friendship Association (4) Thai products and restaurants and (5) fruit carving and live cooking demonstration by the chefs from Thai Residence. During the official ceremony, the Thai Muslim student choir group also sang the Royal Anthem in Arabic, followed by Muay Thai demonstration by The Black Belt Sport Centre in Amman.
 
HRH’s gracious attendance as the Guest of Honour clearly demonstrated the long-standing bond of friendship and goodwill between the two Kingdoms at all levels as well as HRH’s kindness toward the Royal Thai Embassy and Thai Community in Jordan.
